I became a Personal Trainer essentially to 'pay it forward.'

After bringing health and fitness into my life in 2001, I was changed immeasurably as a person and decided to use my experience to inspire and motivate others to achieve their goals.

I have truly found my passion in life and can honestly say that there is pretty much nothing I wouldn't do to help my clients achieve their goals - whether they want it or not!

The hardest part of this process is picking up the phone or writing that email for the very first time. It's the first step towards the rest of your life though!

It Truly Worked For Me!

This was me back in 2000

260lbs – it was like a slap in the face, I really weighed that much?

Actually, who knows what the number really was because that's where my scale maxed out! I was fed up of letting life pass me by when I was still so young.

I read everything there was to read about nutrition and exercise and started what would be the journey of a lifetime.

In October 2001 I hit my goal weight. I dropped from 260lbs (this is as good a guess as I can make since that was where my scale maxed out) to 140#. There was not a single gimmick in sight, just pure hard work and determination which led me to lose around 2 lbs a week - EVERY week.

Flash forward to 2014... an 8 and 5 year old later and I have been within 20# of that goal weight since 2001!

As a trainer I am fairly unique in that I have walked the walk.

I have suffered through the hurtful comments, the feelings of self-degradation and inadequacy.

I understand 100% why it is never as simple as, "just don't eat it" or "go out and run!"

As a trainer, my goal for all of my clients is to have them grow confident in their bodies. Freedom from the scale is perhaps the most liberating experience out there. Increasing fitness levels, lowering body fat while gaining muscle and learning to truly love working out are all things that I try to help my clients experience. I'm a true believer in the fact that your body is the only thing you have guaranteed to be with you for life. You must value it, respect it and nurture it.

    I started working with Karen in Summer of '10. I had major lower back pain and was diagnosed with a herniated disc. I was unable to bend over and comfortably lift my son. I knew something had to change. My doctor talked surgery and I was totally against it. Instead I knew I needed to get back in to shape and strengthen my core. Since joining I have been living pain free. I feel stronger then I ever have before. I participated and completed my first sprint triathlon in September '11. Finished at a pace I never even imagined. My goals for moving forward are to continue to live pain free and maybe do another sprint triathlon next year.
